Made in Lunow-Stolzenhagen brought to the stage 64 residents of two small German villages—a choir of senior citizens, a crowd of teenagers from the local youth center, mothers and their children, and more!—to share their ideas and experiences about work (or the lack thereof) in their rural community one hour outside Berlin. Over the course of one week of intensive rehearsals, we produced a one hour long performance that was attended by most of the residents in the village where it was performed. The Festiwalla festival at Berlin’s Haus der Kulturen der Welt then invited the piece to Berlin, where it was presented in a professional theater space.
